In the Whisper is One!

Dreams and visions. Purpose and ministry. We all have some kind of dream; some remain as seeds planted in our hearts waiting to be cultivated. Others are watered but still need some sunshine to reach their growth potential. And then there are dreams that are cultivated and grow like flowers blooming into a spectacular display of color and beauty.

Ever since I can remember I wanted to write. For more years than I can count I had this dream hidden in my heart, but it was uncultivated, waiting for . . . something. There were forever excuses that today seem ridiculous. For whatever reason I just kept putting it off, letting it remain in the darkness of the soil.

In 2018 I took the plunge and cultivated my dream. I bought a lap top, built a web site and In the Whisper was born. There is a vulnerability in sharing part of this dream you’ve had practically forever, and that’s magnified when God asks you to share your weakness and even failures with people you know and some you don’t.

When we are obedient, even as we argue with God, He blesses us. Oh, how He blesses us. So many times I have hit publish and cringed with thoughts of is this good enough, what will people think when they know this about me, and the big one – does this glorify God in the way He deserves?

I’ve learned these thoughts will be there when I hit publish, but I’ve also learned that if I have listened to Him and write His words, I will quickly find peace. It turns out my dream has lead to an incredible growth process for me; as I learn to sit in the silence and hear God – in the whisper, as I have grown closer to Him and with my new burning desire to study His word and delight in Him every, single day.

These are unexpected blessings that touched me my first year of In the Whisper. Also unexpected are the messages, texts and emails I get from all of you. Some ask questions, others just want to share how a particular message blessed them, more than I can count have asked for prayer. The first time I saw “I needed this today” on social media, I was overwhelmed and humbled that God allowed me the blessing of being His vessel in touching someone’s heart. When I got the first prayer request, the pain in her message broke my heart, and I was honored to get on my knees and petition for God to remove her pain.

Once I took the plunge my dream blossomed with those vibrant colors I had been waiting on. Of course, it didn’t come without some chaos, but even the chaos brought lessons and growth. It was just a few weeds that needed to be pulled so the flowers could start to meet their potential.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3

I challenge you to dig deep and pull out that dream that has been left uncultivated in your heart. On our own it’s scary and possibly overwhelming, but when we trust it to the One who chose you and chose to put that dream in your heart, amazing things will happen.

Today I am happy with the growth of In the Whisper and look forward to adding more adventures soon. If you enjoy In the Whisper feel free to invite others to the web page and share it on social media. In the coming weeks I will be starting a podcast and look forward to sharing stories from other women and how God is working in their lives. Can I just tell you how excited I am that the vision for this ministry has grown and I am looking forward to seeing where God will lead it next!

I also want to say thank you! As I celebrate one year of this ministry, In the Whisper, I am privileged to have you on this journey with me. Thank you for reading my heart. Thank you for telling your friends and thank you for trusting me with your prayers. I am blessed to have been given this opportunity that has brought me new friends and seen other friendships grow deeper. Most of all I am thankful that God trusted me enough to use me for this ministry.

Here’s to another year of God’s grace and glory!
